Get Ready For Today's Celtics Media Day With A Trip Down Memory Lane

Ahhhh Media Day, what a fabulous time of year. It has been 120 days since the band got back together, and about a year if you want to include Gordon Hayward. Media Day is a day filled with optimism for every NBA fanbase whether you’re just excited to see a brand new rookie, or if you’re a Celtics fan like myself, it’s a double whammy of people returning and a year with NBA Finals expectations. You see last year there was certainly a great deal of excitement at this time of year. None of us had any idea what was to come just a few weeks later, but the only thing I can say was it got to about as close to the 2008 Media Day as you possibly could. Well, now that we know just how good this team is, and just how good they are expected to be with key players back, the excitement has reached a whole new level.

That is why, on this Monday morning where you for sure do not want to do shit at work, I figured why not go back in time and relive everything that ruled about the 2017 Media Day. I found it really interesting to go back and watch these interviews with the knowledge of how their seasons ended up. So much hope, so much promise, they had no idea what was in store. I would imagine this year’s version will be filled with just as much excitement, I’m ready for Brad and Danny to try and downplay expectations because they have to, and I’m ready for the kids to say some things and maybe guarantee some things we wish they wouldn’t.

But the reality is, the Celtics enter Media Day 2018 as the betting favorites to come out of the East and make the NBA Finals. People say they are the only hope the league has in terms of beating the Warriors (Celts have won 3 of the last 5 and two of those were at Oracle). As we know entire seasons can change in the first five minutes, so let’s pump the brakes there. Instead, let us just enjoy the fact that the Celtics are back and they’re better than ever. Coming off what was a disaster for the Pats last night, it could not be a more perfect time.

Now, enjoy the trip down memory lane.
